Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is against the law. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are apparently required to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling den, contains 150 one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel compound that features many comforts in addition to the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
